What is Murmur for?

Why does Murmur use local encryption?
Your diary entries are encrypted on your device with your diary key before they sync to the cloud. The server stores encrypted content, not readable plain text.
Can old entries be recovered if I forget my diary key?
No. The diary key is not uploaded to the server, so forgotten keys cannot be used to recover already encrypted entries. This prevents the server or developers from bypassing your key.
Do I need to download a native app?
No. Murmur opens in the browser and can be installed as a PWA on supported desktop and mobile browsers.
